October 2009

October 2009
Detroit cops found dead body of a missing woman

YEARS ago…
but failed to tell her family who were still looking for her

The parents of 28-year-old Crissita Cage-Toaster, from Detroit, had initially reported her missing in October 2009.

Crissita Cage-Toaster disappeared in 2009 and her parents were not told her body was found until last monthW

But her mum Rosita Cage-Toaster says cops called her late last month, telling her they’d found her daughter’s body in 2010 in the Detroit River but didn’t initially identify the body.

Part of the reason was because the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office and Detroit police records listed her ethnicity as Caucasian or Hispanic. She was black.

This was despite the fact they gave cops a photo of her distinctive rose tattoo after she vanished.

It was only after they contacted a missing persons organisation that the body was eventually discovered to be Crissita.

Mum Rosita has said authorities claimed it was due to a 'mix-up'
Her dad told WZXYZ.com: "It was rough. It was no easy task going through the 8 years of not knowing where she was."

Rosita Cage-Toaster spent years tying to track down her missing daughter
Rosita added: "Everybody is 'I'm sorry... I'm sorry'. No, you're not sorry.

"You can't feel my pain. You didn't go through what I went through all these years. I don't want to see anybody ever have to go through this."

The county plans to exhume the body this week.
