Man Drowns (44)
DETROIT, MI -- The Wayne County Medical Examiner identified a body pulled from the Detroit River Sunday as 44-year-old Antonio McKelton.
McKelton fell overboard and never resurfaced while on a boat with friends anchored near Belle Isle following a concert about 1 a.m. Thursday.
An official cause and manner of death hasn't been determined.
U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Ben Chamberlain said McKelton was on a 33-foot boat with about eleven other people when he fell into the water.
His body was located by other boaters about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, the Detroit News reports.
"He fell into the water, and the remaining people on board were unable to get to him," Chamberlain said last week. "They said they saw him go under water and not resurface."
McKelton fell in the Detroit River east of the MacArthur Bridge, between Bell Isle and the Detroit mainland.
U.S. Coast Guard personnel from Belle Isle were on scene within 20 minutes, said Chamberlain. They conducted more than 10 separate searches along 400 linear miles of the river before Sunday.
The Detroit Fire Department and Detroit Police Dive Team assisted in the search.
